MiddleGround in practice

Renovate together, with AI assistants keeping the project in step

The owner shares her wishes. The designer brings drawings. The contractor adds site observations. Their AI assistants help turn those contributions into plans, decisions and progress reports around the same Old Signal House project.

An owner and designer review scattered plans, inspection photographs and material samples in front of The Old Signal House.
01 · One house. Many pieces of information.

01 · The starting point

It starts in different places.

Plans & photographs

Floor plans and images captured at different stages.

Quotes

Proposals and prices from different suppliers.

Technical documents

Information about the building and its systems.

Room requirements

Ideas and wishes for each space.

Suppliers

The people and businesses involved in the work.

Decisions

Choices made as the project develops.

02 · A shared picture

One house, a shared foundation for every assistant

The owner asks her assistant to capture what each room should become. The designer can then use that shared brief with their own assistant to prepare questions and compare proposals. A site note from the contractor adds another piece to the picture.

MiddleGround holds the rooms, people, documents and decisions together. Connected assistants work with the project information each person can access, record their contributions and prepare useful outputs. A decision summary can stay connected to the proposal and room it concerns.

Purple connections link grouped project documents and materials to a tablet and the corresponding parts of The Old Signal House.
02 · Connect each decision to the place it belongs.

03 · In practice

How it works in practice.

  1. Turn wishes into a working brief

Ask an assistant to organize the owner’s notes by room, extract requirements and save the open questions. The shared brief grows from the conversations already happening around the house.

  2. Compare what the project is telling you

Give the assistant proposals, inspection notes and design updates. Ask it for a comparison, a summary of outstanding questions and the source behind each point.

  3. Record decisions as the work moves on

After a site meeting, ask the assistant to update the decision log and action list, linking the notes to the relevant rooms and work. Other participants can use the saved updates with their own connected assistants.

  4. Prepare the next report from the project

Ask for a progress report covering completed work, open decisions and suggested improvements. The assistant prepares the content from the shared records; a reusable template gives the PDF a consistent layout. Store it with the project for later handover and maintenance.

Working together

Different roles, their own assistants, one shared project

The owner, designer and contractor can each work with a connected AI assistant. Their saved contributions become useful to the others without someone having to collect every update into a new brief.

Owner

Talks through priorities and asks her assistant to maintain the requirements and decision notes.

Designer

Uses the shared requirements to prepare comparisons, extracts from proposals and questions for the next meeting.

Contractor

Adds site observations and asks for an updated action list and a concise progress summary.

MiddleGround keeps the shared record available beyond each chat. The next assistant can pick up the saved work, while documents and reports retain their place in the project.

The owner, designer and contractor consult a tablet beside the house, connected to a conceptual window with drawings, materials and progress photographs.
03 · Different roles. One shared understanding. Conceptual illustration.

From context to action

What could you ask or do next?

Conceptual examples of working with a connected AI assistant using the information you share in MiddleGround.

  • Turn these meeting notes into decisions and actions for each room.
  • Compare the installation proposals and show which sources support the differences.
  • Update the project with today’s site observations.
  • Draft a progress report with outstanding questions and improvement points.
  • Prepare a handover summary from the decisions, manuals and completed work.

The result

The work moves forward, and its story stays with the house

AI assistants help with the coordination, documentation and reporting throughout the renovation. MiddleGround preserves the shared sources, relationships and outputs, so a handover report or later maintenance question can build on the work already done.
